"Salvation (2023)" embodies transformation, inspired by a poignant film depicting the life of a deaf individual. The piece commences with a symbolic ignition, initiating an evolutionary journey where the wax undergoes a metamorphosis, gradually assuming geometric shapes in an unstable balance until it eventually dissolves into the passage of time.
When the hands relying on the top light melt, the work leaves behind four plaster hands posing a sign language. The hands, spelling out the letters E, A, N, and D, embody a dual meaning—representing both the conclusion denoted by 'end' and the eternal message conveyed by 'a.' These hands, unyielding in essence, stand as a testament to the enduring nature of the message amid the temporal shifts. The temporal rhythm of the artwork aligns with the sun's movement, accentuating its time-specific nature. Bell sound which operates with precision every six hours, mirroring the sun's visible journey from sunrise to sunset, the installation unfolds as a performance that begins at midnight.
After seven days, the candles lose their original form, mirroring the transient nature of glory and the essence of eternity. "Salvation (2023)" invites viewers to witness the poetic evolution of time, acknowledging the fleeting beauty of existence and the enduring message embedded within the changing forms of the wax, an ephemeral performance captured within the artful dance of light and shadow.
